It’s almost time for the Play Early days on PS5® to begin. We put together this fact sheet in order to answer any common questions from players regarding the launch on PlayStation®5 and to make sure everyone is informed properly. 

What does Play Early mean?

With Play Early, players who pre-ordered the Imperial Edition of Darktide on PS5® will be able to begin playing Darktide 6 days early. This does not mean PS5® players will be playing Grim Protocols a week early.

When does Play Early start for PS5®?

Those who pre-ordered the Imperial Edition will be able to play from November 27th at the following times:

• 2:00 AM PST
• 5:00 AM EST
• 10:00 AM UTC
• 10:00 AM GMT
• 11:00 AM CET
• 19:00 PM JST

When do the PS5® standard edition of the game and the Grim Protocols free update come out for players?

PlayStation®5 and Grim Protocols will be available to all players from December 3rd at the following times*:

• 5:00 AM EST
• 2:00 AM PST
• 10:00 AM UTC
• 10:00 AM GMT
• 11:00 AM CET
• 19:00 PM JST

* Please note: The Grim Protocols update will begin to be deployed to players at this time on December 3rd. It might take a couple hours for the update to be pushed out to all players on all platforms as the servers switch over.

What are the specifications for PS5®?

The game will be supporting:

• The DualSense’s Haptic Feedback and Adaptive Triggers**
• Performance mode (60FPS on a 1440p resolution) and Quality Mode (30FPS on a 4K resolution) for PlayStation®5
• Frame rate of 60 FPS on a 4K resolution for PlayStation®5 Pro

**What about Play Early and the DualSense’s Haptic Feedback and Adaptive Triggers?

Haptic Feedback and Adaptive Triggers support for the DualSense will be pushed out to PlayStation®5 players on December 3rd, when the game will become available to all players on the platform. It will not be available yet during Play Early as we complete the final bits of tuning. 

What if I pre-ordered the standard edition, but would like to upgrade to the Imperial Edition during the Play Early phase. 

Players will not be able to upgrade to the Imperial Edition until December 3rd when the game will become available to all players. An add-on to upgrade to the Imperial Edition will be made available on the PlayStation™Store on launch day (December 3rd).

Is there anything else for me to know?

• There are a few known issues that will be shared in the patch notes version of the game that will go live with the Play Early days. Most of them have already been fixed with the wider PlayStation®5 release and the Grim Protocols update.
• Prior to launch and during the pre-order period, PlayStation®Plus subscribers are entitled to: some text
  • 10% off on Standard Editions of Darktide
  • 15% off on Imperial Editions of Darktidesome text
    • Players who preorder the Imperial Edition with a PlayStation®Plus subscription during the Play Early days will be able to join in on the fun immediately.
